๐ŸŒฑ Devlog v0.0.1 โ€” A New Seed Sprouts on player rotation

Welcome to the first Update for sod and steel. We have had a first few good days of production. Here is a quick update on a problem I encountered along the way.

The Problem

The code coming together to get the mouse to follow the player was a problem. I could get it to follow the player at first but the camera would follow along with it or I could get the camera to stay still but the player would not follow along with the mouse. This could have caused a large variety of issues with the end user if not dealt with early since player movement is one of those things that can put players off from the game very easily.

The Solution

I cracked down into the code to look for a solution that may have been a little deeper to see what the problem was. I had found that the spring arm was inheriting its staring angle from the angle in which the camera was placed in the editor. To help fix this problem I found turning the spring arms inherit pitch and roll to false  allowed of the spring arm to go to its intended angle when pressing play. This problem will be elevated even more down the road when we include a spawn location for the player.

This is a learning experience getting used to Perforce but we are making hope to see you at the next Blog and thanks again for your continued support of Sod & Steel.

No grass was harmed in the making of this devlog.๐ŸŒพ
